7's bounce back to cruise through

George Hewitt, 14 December 2009 15:21

After a loss in the cup last week, it was yet another cup game this week for the 7's, this time away to Winchmore Hill.......again.

As per usual we had the same old story with players pulling out.....Andy was washing his girlfreinds hair, Chaz was out again on his rollerblades, Scholesy and Andrew were getting their hair dyed together and Graeme hurt his toe........apparently!

So poly had to borrow Chris and Michael from the 9's and with the return of the so called, but never available, captain we started the game. Both sides started lively and we knew this was going to be no walkover but it wasn;t long before Poly took the lead. A through ball by Dan was bought down superbly by Rowan who then unleashed a half volley from outside the box straight into the bottom corner. 1-0 Poly Rowan

Poly sooned doubled their lead when George put Pierre through for the frontman to smash past the keeper and make it two. 2-0 Pierre.  The half drew to a close and poly were in control

The second half started as the first ended, mikey slotted a lovely through ball for Rob to latch onto who got to the byline and whipped in a cross for the ever reliable Rowan to power his header home from close range with a defender on his shoulder, a superb team goal. 3-0 Rowan.  And mikey soon put the game to bed, George played him through down the wing and when he twisted and turned and smashed a peach of a shot into the top right corner. 4-0 Poly Mikey.

The lead was extended when Mikey found himself at the byline on the right of the goal, pulled the ball back to Rob on the edge of the area who drilled it towards the bottom left corner. A defender stuck out a leg but could not prevent the innevitable as the ball knicked his leg and looped in to the bottom left corner. 5-0 Poly Rob.

The best was saved for last as a goal kick from Joe was flicked on cleverly by Rowan into the path of Rob who drove forward with the ball, waited for the keeper to step far enough off his line and then cleverly chipped him from 30 yards. 6-0 Poly Rob.

Winchmore hill grabbed one back to make it 6-1 in the last minute and the Poly were annoyed at not having kept the clean sheet.

MoM: Hard to call as everybody shone but probably have to give it to Danny "Peter Crouch" Scriven
