Spring is in the air - but there is a lot of football left this season!
More games than there are Saturdays for most teams, so that is going to mean double headed fixtures (two short games in a day) and, come April when the light permits, perhaps evening fixtures midweek.
So be prepared, you may be called upon to play a couple of evenings to get the programme completed. Please do what you can in advance to make sure you can be free to play - we don't want to let our seasons slip by fielding weak sides in the last few games.

As a Registered Charity we are able to recover the tax on membership contributions from tax payer members who have signed the taxpayer declaration. This is worth a lot to the club and will help us to improve our facilities and equipment, so please ensure that you have supplied your captain with a signed copy of the form. Note that this if you did one last season that is still valid! If not, press print and sign this form and give it to your captain.

Birthday Beaut for Baby Face
Ninth team defensive stalwart Petr Holecek celebrated his 36th birthday in fine style, slamming home a spectacular injury time equaliser to salvage a point for his team against Lloyds at Chiswick, his first ever goal for the Poly.

24/10/2009 : New Kits Arrive.
The club now has six new sets of shirts including two white change strips, one seen here being put to the test by the generous figures of certain ninth teamers. Happily the shirts proved lucky for the lads, though they evidently haven't decided what colour boots go best with them yet! Read on...

End of Season Awards Night
Another season, another noisy evening at Doggets where the chairman and captains handed out the club awards for the year. The biggest shouts of the night were for absentees: Terry Buckland, whose exceptional efforts this season have achieved charitable status for the club almost single handedly, and for the outgoing club Fixture Secretary Peter Jackson, who has held the post since before most of the current playing members were even born. Terry was rewarded with the Clubman of the Year award, whilst Peter was given a special lifetime award, received on his behalf by his former teammate Harvey Haines.
We were also delighted to see our former chairman John Keane again, resplendent in club tie and back on form with the microphone.

Charter Standard Club
 |
We are delighted to announce that the club has been awarded Charter Standard Club status by the FA. This recognises the high standards of management we have introduced at the club over recent years and the work of the committee members to achieve this. Charter Standard certification will raise the profile and influence of the club and potentially give us access to new sources of support and funding - a great achievement for the club's future!

Save the Civil Service Facilities
Most past and present players have visited and enjoyed the excellent bar and hospitality facilities at our near neighbours, Civil Service FC. Under a cost saving cutback, it has been announced that these facilities will be closed. Civil Service FC have raised an online petition against this closure. Please show your support by signing the petition on the Downing St website, here. Please also pass this on to former players, local residents and other users of the facility, this would be a great loss not only to Civil Service FC but to the league as a whole.
Wembley Tickets
The club can apply for tickets for all England home fixtures. If you want to apply for a ticket please login to this site and click on the Wembley Tickets link. Applications have to be in well in advance of the games, so please check what is coming up on the FA website.

Membership Cards
Arnolds Leisure on Ealing Broadway have kindly provided the club with fetching gold membership cards, which your captain should by now have issued you with. Cricket
Roehampton Cricket Club have been in touch and are keen to recruit new players for the 2009 season. They play on Putney Heath and have both Saturday and Sunday sides. If you are interested please take a look at the club website and following the contact email address from there.
Charitable Status
The required constitutional changes were unanimously voted for at the General Meeting on Wednesday 10 December and - following confirmation received from the Charities Commission on Thursday 11th December - Polytechnic Football Club is now a registered charity. This gives the club a great platform for the future and Terry Buckland must take the credit for working very hard to achieve it.
Discipline & Dissent
Players are reminded that bookings for dissent incur a doubling of the usual fine for a caution to £20. Dissent towards the referee is not acceptable at the Poly and is a very silly way to waste £20.
Training Fees
From 9th October 2008 onwards, training will only be open to those who have already paid their annual membership subscriptions to the club. Alternatively, those wishing to join the sessions may pay an annual fee of £40 to train with the club, or a weekly fee of £5. No Exceptions!

Charity Conversion News
At a special general meeting on 25th September 2008, the members voted to support the proposal to pursue conversion to charitable status and to accept the new constitution drafted by Terry Buckland.
If you would like to join one of our sides for the 2008/09 season, please come to one of our Thursday night training sessions on the floodlit all-weather surface at our home ground ( map). Sessions start at 7.30pm, astro turf footwear is required, studded boots cannot be worn.
